100th Anniversary Update
With services the weekend of October 11th the anniversary year was underway! The anniversary committee has been and still is hard at work planning this centennial year. There are many things being done, some things you will notice right away, some are not so noticeable, but also very important. You may have noticed the new hymnal markers or the anniversary banner that was recently hung up, the “sprucing up” that is being done to the church as well as some needed maintenance. There is also a beautiful display case in the church hall that is being filled with things from Zion’s past. “In Christ Alone” has been chosen as the anniversary hymn (this was the opening hymn we sang on Oct. 10th /11th ). We will be singing this beautiful hymn again on special Sundays that are being planned for throughout the year. More information about each of those special Sundays will be told as they near. One thing you may want to take note of now is the date of the final anniversary celebration. It has been set for Sunday, October 10, 2010 (10/10/10).
The Anniversary Committee will be holding a Bake Sale after services on Saturday & Sunday, January 23 & 24th. Proceeds from the sale will be used to defray costs of the 100th Anniversary Dinner on October 10, 2010.
Anyone willing to provide goodies for the bake sale can bring there donation with them that weekend, or you can call Sue Becker to make other arrangements. There has been a lot of planning already done by the Anniversary Committee, with much more to do. If anyone would like to help by working on a sub-committee, or just helping with certain events already planned, please contact a member of the committee. Committee members are: Jim Moeller, Lester Lattz, Al & Sue Becker, Lloyd Schoenbeck, Gilberta Biedzycki, Paul Tatge, Matt Tomfohrde and Sandy Moore.
The Annual Report for 2009 will be presented at the Voters’ Meeting on Sunday, January 31st at *2:00 p.m. In order to have the report ready on time, please have all information to the office by Wednesday, January 20th. You can e-mail your report or type it out and drop it by the office. Board chairman and organization presidents are asked to submit a summary of the past year’s activities and officers for the coming year. Your assistance in making this an informative report for the current and prospective members is appreciated.
