Our regular worship times are 6:00 pm on Saturdays, and 9:00 am on Sundays. All are invited to come and listen to God's Word along with us.
RYAN MINISTRY CENTER
The house just north of church, at 1588 Main St., is where our offices are located. We also hold some Bible studies in the fireside room there.
Both of our two worship services are considered traditional style. However, we do still offer some variety and include some contemporary music and style.
Zion has two restrooms located in the church hall (lower level).
WHAT TO WEAR?
You may come as you are to worship. There is no particular dress code. Even so, many people do put on their best to show honor to our loving God.
Our members respond to their Savior’s love with offerings that are given joyfully and generously. We want everyone to give out of love for our Savior and not "reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7). Their cheerful gifts support the mission and ministry of our congregation. While visiting us at Zion, we do not expect you to contribute to our congregation’s work. However, if you would like to give an offering to the Lord in response to his love to you, we are happy to receive it and put it to work in God’s kingdom.
Children are welcome at Zion. So please don't be afraid to bring them into the service. We offer a brief children's devotion for the younger members as part of our worship service. At the invitation of pastor, children are invited to come forward to the front of the church to hear this special message.
Children can also become restless. You may use the area in the fellowship hall (lower level) if the need arises. You are able to view and hear the service from there.
We also offer a Sunday school program for children ages 4-11. Sunday school meets Sunday mornings after worship at 10:15 AM in the Illinois Lutheran School building (behind church).
WHAT WE BELIEVE
The one true God is Triune, one God with three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). All human beings are conceived and born in sin, and are worthy only of God’s wrath, and in deep need for God’s deliverance. Eternal salvation is only available through the innocent life and bitter sufferings and death of Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus’ Victory over the grave on Easter Sunday, we too will rise and live with him for an eternity. All of these blessings become ours now, through a clinging faith and trust in Jesus, who alone is Lord and Savior of all. God tells us everything we need to know about him and his will for us through the Bible. This is God’s Word and it is Truth. Therefore, we believe that God’s Word offers guidance, strength and comfort for all people in every situation of life.
WHO WE ARE
Zion Lutheran Church has been serving the Crete community for over 150 years. We are members of Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). As men, women and children united in faith and worship by the Word of God, the WELS exists to make disciples throughout the world for time and for eternity, using the gospel to win the lost for Christ and to nurture believers for lives of Christian service, all to the Glory of God.
Zion is one of two congregations that supports and operates Illinois Lutheran Schools, a Pre-K through 12th grade academic program founded on God's Word. It serves students from the church and community, providing students a wide range of opportunities to grow spiritually, academically and socially. You can find out more by visiting www.ilhs.org
Inspired by the love of Christ our Savior, we are determined to seek and to save the lost, and to teach his believers to do the same.
