ZION MISSION STATEMENT
Inspired by the love of Christ our Savior, we are determined to seek and to save the lost, and to teach his believers to do the same.
Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church has been serving the Crete community for over 150 years. Zion proclaims the truth about our Savior Jesus around Crete, Illinois and the world. We are partnered with the other churches of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), united in faith, mission, and teaching.
The WELS exists to give all glory to God by upholding, defending, and proclaiming the truth of the Holy Scriptures as articulated in the Lutheran Confessions, and by providing a means for congregations and their members to extend the reach of their God-given mission of proclaiming the gospel in Word and sacrament through joint mission efforts at home and abroad, the training of called workers, and coordination of gospel applications to encourage spiritually healthy called workers in spiritually healthy congregations and schools.
Zion is one of two congregations that supports and operates Illinois Lutheran Schools, a Pre-K through 12th grade academic program founded on God's Word. It serves students from the church and community, providing students a wide range of opportunities to grow spiritually, academically and socially. You can find out more by visiting ilhs.org.
